·A Note on our Registration Process·

At ViaClay, we provide a space for people to pursue the continued practice of craft, evolving our classes into tight-knit communities of those dedicated to that pursuit. While this limits the number of spots available for new students, it creates an enriching atmosphere that we are eager to nurture.

We offer all currently-enrolled students the opportunity to re-enroll in the next session before opening class registration to the public. We recognize that joining these classes can be challenging, but we are committed to encouraging those who want to continue to practice. As we work on expanding our studio, we are also exploring ways to introduce new students to ceramics, while maintaining the community that has developed here.

Our future plans include expanding our class offerings and Members’ spaces to enable more people to start their journey in clay. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience as we strive to balance the needs of our current community members with those eager to join.

Not ready for a commitment?

Try an experience session! These one-time 2-hour classes are designed to allow you to experiment and have fun without committing to a suite of classes. Sign up for one or more of these Friday or Saturday sessions as your schedule allows. Studio staff will bisque, dip glaze, and fire your class project, and we will contact you when your masterpiece is ready to pick up!

*Weekday daytime open studio hours are Monday - Thursday 12p - 7p, Friday 12p - 5p

*When you sign up for a class, select the option for the weekday daytime open studio hours after the payment screen. You will receive a separate invoice in your email after registering.

Emily will lead intermediate adult students in the next chapter of their wheel throwing journey. These sessions will help you refine and expand your form-making, as you work to develop your own style. New materials can be explored including throwing with porcelain, and more advanced forms will be demonstrated. (Completion of a beginning wheel throwing class is strongly recommended.)

Emily is the owner of EMRIS, a small batch ceramic brand based in Chicago producing functional wares for everyday use. She has worked with clay for over a decade.
